About me, and my courses


I have many years experience as a teacher, an deep interest in studying and utilising the latest research findings on how to successfully change, and full professional training as a therapist – qualified to help you achieve your own goals.

This is combined with a burning desire to help people realise more of their potential – which most of us sadly do not.

My background

I was born in Blackburn and graduated from Oxford University with a BA (Hons) and MA. I also have a Post-graduate Diploma in Law from Westminster University.

I have been involved worked in education for many years in London (where I owned a college), at Manchester University, and for several years in Shanghai, China – where I was the Group Academic Director for Jiao Tong University Education Group, and won a Chinese government prize for outstanding work. My work has including corporate training, adult students, university students, and high school students. I thoroughly enjoy the challenge of helping people – young and older – to realise more of their potential.

As therapist / lifecoach

I am trained in the combined use of Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Hypnotherapy and Mindfulness. It is an evidence based approach – founded on research. Together these offer some of the most effective available tools for personal (and corporate) development and change. Each has multiple variations so courses can be tailored to particular needs.

I am fully qualified, accredited and professionally registered with both the Complementary and Natural Healthcare Council and the General Hypnotherapy Register. I have professional insurance.

I am also interested in health and nutrition and have studied Advanced Medical Nutrition at Manchester Metropolitan University at Master level.

In the UK

I recently came back to the UK for family reasons, and now spend time between the UK and China. In the UK I can see clients in Manchester and Blackburn, or via Skype and Facetime


I offer one-to-one and small group support in Manchester and Blackburn. One-to-one support is also available via Skype and Facetime. The initial consultation is FREE – call or email me to schedule an appointment.

I have Weight, Diet and Lifestyle Group classes in Blackburn. Again the first visit is FREE.

Tailor made programmes are available for companies – call to arrange an appointment. Depending on the nature of the course, I can travel anywhere.

Strategies that work

I specialise in evidence based programmes to help people – individuals, groups and businesses – solve problems, make the changes they desire, and achieve their goals.

To do this I introduce multiple strategies. I do not believe that one strategy works for everyone – all the evidence tells us that it does not. The common feature is that all the strategies I use are supported by academic research into their effectiveness. Hypnotherapy can be used to help to reinforce, visualise, rehearse and focus on the new behaviour.

Transferrable skills

Another key feature is that strategies that you learn for one issue – such as managing stress, or losing weight – are skills that can then be applied in other areas of life.

You build a tool kit that works for you – and that you can carry with you.
